Case Studies

Pfizer Ltd

Echo Engineering has carried out projects on the Sandwich site for over 15 years. These projects have included design, fabrication and installation.

What follows is only a sample of projects undertaken:

  • New Utilities Boiler feed project (240 Tonnes) structural steel construction involving access platforms and stairways complete with highly polished stainless steel handrails.

  • Pipe bridges 2.5 metres square in 12 metre spans.

  • Refurbishment of existing production buildings including the provision of new 7 tonne vessels.

  • Design, fabrication and installation of storage tanks in both carbon and stainless steel.

  • Various stainless and carbon steel production units including heat exchangers and reactors.

  • Site built 5.5 metres 184,000 litres stainless steel storage tank.

Dungeness Power Station

Echo has worked within the Nuclear Industry for the last 16 years.

As well as vessel construction Echo has carried out some complex projects which have involved in-depth planning and risk assessment in radioactive controlled areas.

A sampling of projects undertaken:

  • Refurbishment of the Active effluent water treatment plant installing new pumps, valves and stainless steel pipework to a high standard. This resulted in lowering the radiation levels.

  • Complete refurbishment of the fuel cooling system including the design and fabrication of new stainless steel heat exchangers.

  • Echo have had a permanent site team at Dungeness A power station for the past 12 years integrated with the British Nuclear Group Maintenance staff. They play an active role in the day to day activities of the Maintenance.

Project: Thamesmead Innovation Centre - Structural Steel

This is the single largest project ever undertaken by Echo within an extremely limited timescale.

The project involved the design of all interconnection details and the production of General Arrangement Drawings for approval by the client.

This was followed by fabrication drawings and specifications and eventually the fabrication and coating of 380 tonnes of structural steel.

The limited timescale meant that all Echos work had to be integrated with all the other trades and still managed to complete their work on time!
